Welcome to Donald Duck Day
Donald Duck is one of the most recognisable characters of Walt Disney and has been around since 1934 when he appeared in an animated short The Wise Little Hen. But 3 years prior to that his name first appeared in The Adventures of Mickey Mouse.
He is a great character and has a tendency to fly off the handle at the simplest things and that is one of the things we all love about him.
Donald certainly has earned his own special day for all the fun and laughter he has given us for well over 70 years.
We see him popping up all over the place and is one of the most loved characters at Disney World. You cant forget his yellow/orange bill legs and feet and his sailor shirt and cap and his bow tie.
The kids love him and so do adults and it is unusual for something that is just a kid’s character to be so loved by adults.
He has been named in TV Guide to the 50 greatest cartoon characters and that's some achievement for just a duck. Well, let’s face it, he’s not just a duck, he’s Donald Duck!
Who has upset Donald this time?
He has some very unique characteristics and to celebrate his day, why not dress in blue and gold and add a splash of red to finish it off.
If people ask you why you are dressed like that, respond with the famous Donald quack, or fall into one of his rages saying about all the things you hate in a voice nobody will understand.
Just enjoy the day and just don't care what people think, take a leaf out of Donald's book and be bold bright and have fun.
If you are lucky enough to be able to, plan a trip to Disney World to see him in the flesh. You could reread any stories he has been in, his famous one being Lost the Andes and the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
However you spend it, make it fun and let’s have your thoughts, pics, etc. etc. about who is probably the most famous duck of all time.
